Programs
KIDSKATE - A pre-school program designed for 3 and 4 year olds. Children
are taught to skate with an active play format. The sessions mix fun and play on ice through games and creative exercises.
Skaters are not tested for badges in this program but receive other incentives throughout the season. The session runs
for 30 minutes once a week and is taught by a professional coach.
CANSKATE - This program
teaches fundamental skating skills to children 4 years and older, through fun activities and continuous movement in small
groups. As sets of skills are accomplished the children are awarded Skate Canada badges, Levels 1 through 6. The
sessions run on Tuesdays and Sundays for 45 to 50 minutes and include five minute off ice warm-up prior to the on ice instruction.
The program is run by a professional coach with the aid of trained program assistants.
INTERMEDIATE - This program
is designed to introduce children to figure skating . Skaters must have completed a minimum of level 4 CanSkate.
Skaters may choose to skate one or two days per week. Tuesdays include one 15 minute dance and skills session, one 20
minute group lesson and 15 minutes free skate practice. Sundays include, one 10 minute stroking session, 15 minutes
dance and skills session, one 30 minute group lesson and 15 minutes free skate practice. Skaters may arrange private
lessons in addition to group lessons.
STARSKATE/COMPETITIVE SKATE - This is the Skate Canada test and competition
stream. Skaters are taught through group, semi-private or private lessons with a professional coach. All lessons
are arranged by the parent/skater and fees for coaching are paid directly to the coach. Skaters choose which sessions
they wish to skate.

Our Mission
Our Mission is to encourage the instruction, enjoyment and advancement of our members in all
aspects of skating in accordance with the rules and policies of "Skate Canada". 
About our Club
"Queens County
Blades Skating Club" is a member of the national skating body, "Skate Canada". The club was formed in 1971 and
operates out of the Queens Memorial Arena, located on Old Bridge Street in Liverpool, Nova Scotia. We are one of six
clubs in the south shore region of "Skate Canada Nova Scotia".
We have a membership of approximately 100 skaters.*
The club's regular sessions are held twice a week on Sundays and Tuesdays.
We offer programs from Pre-School to StarSkate and Competitive.
Our ice is available from October until May.
We host a CanSkate Festival, (alternating with Lunenburg and
Chester) in February. Our annual carnival is held in March.
